Everything here is handmade by me in Colorado, so a few things work differently than they would at a big store. Here's what people ask most.
Personalization
How does the name embroidery work? Type your baby's name in the field on the product page, exactly as you'd like it stitched, and choose a font. Up to 12 characters. I stitch it into a corner of the blanket in a thread color chosen to match the piece. It's embroidered, not printed — it won't crack, peel or fade in the wash.
Is personalization included in the price? Yes. There's no extra charge on any product, and no minimum order.
I typed the name wrong. Can you fix it? Yes, if you catch it quickly. Email me at maminasbabyshop@gmail.com within 24 hours of placing your order and I'll correct it before I stitch, at no charge. Once a name has been embroidered it can't be undone, but I can remake the piece at half the original price.
What if you stitch it differently than I typed it? Then it's on me. Email me a photo within 30 days and I'll remake it or refund you, return shipping included.
Can I use a nickname, initials or a date? Yes to all three, as long as it fits in 12 characters. Dates work best written short, like 05.14.26.
Can I order without a name? Yes. Leave the name field empty and the piece ships plain. Note that non-personalized items ship faster — usually 1 to 3 business days.
Is the embroidery done by hand? The name is machine-embroidered, which is what makes it dense and even enough to survive years of washing. Everything else — cutting the fabric, sewing the piece, assembling it, making the card — is done by hand, by me.
Sizes and materials
How big is a lovey? 13 × 13 inches (33 × 33 cm). Light enough for a newborn to hold, small enough to travel.
How big are the other pieces? Ring rattles are 6 inches. Plush Friends are about 8 inches (20 cm) tall. Mini Plush are 4.5 inches. Pacifier clips are 8 inches including the clip.
What fabric do you use? Minky — 100% polyester, hypoallergenic. Raised dimple-dot minky on one side for little fingers, smooth minky on the other for a cheek to rest against. Pacifier clips are 100% cotton.
Are there plastic eyes or beads? No. Every face is fully embroidered — eyes, nose and cheeks. There's nothing on the piece that can work loose and become a choking hazard.
Safety
Are the materials safe for a newborn? Yes. Hypoallergenic minky, embroidered features instead of plastic parts, and every seam double-stitched.
Can my baby sleep with a lovey? Follow AAP guidance and keep the crib bare for the first 12 months — no blankets, pillows or soft toys. Until then, loveys are for supervised comfort and play. After the first year, most families introduce a lovey at bedtime.
Are the pacifier clips safe? The strap is 8 inches including the clip, in line with CPSC's guidance that pacifier holders be no longer than necessary. Clip it to clothing only — never to a crib, car seat, stroller, or around a baby's neck. Check the clip and stitching before each use and stop using it if anything looks worn. Supervised use only.
Do the rattles make noise? A soft one, and only when the baby shakes it on purpose. No batteries, no lights, no sound effects.
Shipping
How long until my order ships? Personalized items: 3 to 5 business days. Non-personalized items: 1 to 3 business days. Every piece is made after you order it — nothing sits on a shelf.
How long does delivery take? Usually 3 to 5 business days within the U.S. after your order ships, depending on where you are.
How much is shipping? Free on orders over $50. You'll get a confirmation email with tracking as soon as your order is on its way.
I need it for a baby shower on a specific date. Will it make it? Probably, but email me before you order and I'll tell you honestly. If it's tight I'll prioritize your order. I'd rather say no than have it arrive the day after.
Do you ship internationally? Not yet — right now I ship within the United States only. If you're somewhere else, write to me and I'll see what I can do.
Returns and guarantee
What's your guarantee? What you see is what arrives. If your piece doesn't look like the photos, a seam isn't right, it arrives damaged, or the name was embroidered differently than you submitted it, email me within 30 days with a photo. I'll remake it or refund you — personalized pieces included, and return shipping is on me.
Can I return a personalized item if I change my mind? No. A blanket with someone's baby's name on it can't be resold, so personalized pieces aren't returnable for change of mind. That's exactly why I'll fix a spelling mistake for free within 24 hours of your order.
Can I return a non-personalized item? Yes, within 30 days of delivery, unused, unwashed and in its original packaging. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect.
How long do refunds take? 5 to 10 business days after I receive and inspect the return.
Care
How do I wash a lovey, rattle or plush? Machine wash cold on the delicate cycle, in a mesh laundry bag. Air dry only. No bleach, no fabric softener and no dryer — heat flattens minky permanently and it doesn't come back.
How do I clean a pacifier clip? Wipe it with a damp cloth, or hand wash the strap in cool water and air dry. Don't put it in the machine — the clip can damage it.
Will the name fade? No. It's stitched thread, not print. It'll outlast the blanket.
Gifts and custom orders
Does it come ready to give? The Little Welcome Box and the Welcome Home Box both arrive in a rigid white gift box with a card I cut and make by hand from cardstock. No two cards come out quite the same.
Can you write a message on the card? Yes. Leave it in the order notes at checkout and I'll write it by hand.
Can I mix and match characters in a box? Write to me before ordering and we'll put it together.
Can you make something that isn't on the site? Sometimes. Email me at maminasbabyshop@gmail.com with what you have in mind and I'll tell you if I can.
